Listowel Races 2010
12th - 18th September
This years Listowel Races is a 7-day Festival from Sunday 12th September to Saturday 18th September. Also known as The Listowel Harvest Festiival of Racing, this annual event is one of the biggest meetings on the Irish Racing Calendar.
It is a mix of Flat and National Hunt but, given the time of year, the emphasis is on National Hunt with the big race of the meeting being th Kerry National. There is always very good prize-money in Listowel which means that top horses are attracted and the quality of racing is very high.
During the festival Listowel is abuzz with music, dance, street theatre and general merriment and people come from all over Ireland and from abroad for the week
Visitors are advised to book their accommodation for Listowel Races early. Although Listowel has quite a lot of accommodation, they are often booked out at this time and latecomers may find it difficult to get suitable accommodation. Listowel town does not have enough capacity to accommodate all visitors during the week and many visitors will stay in the many accommodations available in Ballybunion, Ballylongford, Tarbert and Tralee.
31/8/2010: Accommodation is now very scarce for Listowel Races.
